Have a break, have a manatee.
The snow is falling fast and furious at Whitefish Mountain Resort. The Amigos are waiting with baited breath for the 2010 Burrito Blast 3.
I'm going to get my first turns of the season on my new skis during the Christmas holiday. Maybe a couple of days at the fish. I so desperately want to drop into the Hellroaring basin and own the powder back there.
This year's edition is going to be more interactive than ever. Daily updates on this blog, photos in Picasa Web Albums, and the biggest addition is going to be the streaming video feed from the cabin. There is a new link on www.skiamigos.com that you should check out too.
Also there are photos in the archives from last year and a photo resume for each of the Amigos.

"It's Thanksgiving week which has a lot of people starting to think about hitting the slopes.
Historically, the Whitefish Mountain resort has opened Thanksgiving Day. That changed a few years ago. This year, the resort plans to open December 5.
Right now, resort crews are doing things like training, grooming and last minute preparations to make sure they're ready to go in two weeks.
Northwest Montana hasn't seen much snow on the valley floor, but resort officials say the back side of the mountain is ready to open.
Blacktail Mountain Ski Area in Lakeside does things differently. They don't set target opening dates. Resort owners there wait until there's enough snow on the ground to open the lifts.
We talked to Blacktail owner Steve Spencer Monday. He says they still need a lot of snow before they can open. He says once they get a reasonable amount of snow, they'll post snow reports and opening updates on their website. Turner Mountain in Libby operates the same way.
If you're itching to hit the slopes this week, there is some good news.
Great Divide SKi Area near Helena is already open Tuesdays through Sundays.
Lookout Pass on the Idaho border and Big Sky Resort in Southwest Montana plan to open Thanksgiving Day.
Red Lodge Resort Plans to open Black Friday.
Bridger Bowl near Bozeman is having a meeting Tuesday to decide their opening day. "

Pray for snow
Its coming. 21 days until the Whitefish Mountain resort opens for the season. I for one can't wait. My new skis are hanging on the wall begging to tear it up. But, they'll have to wait. If you look at the webcams, the bottom half of the mountain is still pretty brown. Don't worry, the solution is close at hand:
The Bierstube brings you the annual PRAY FOR SNOW bonfire and party Saturday, November 28th.
Bonfire at 7pm
Live Music from the Canyon Creek Ramblers at 8pm
NO COVER CHARGE, 21 and up only.
Free SNOW Bus until 'round about midnight, so don't drink and drive (detailed schedule to come).

After much discussion, the Amigos have settled the who, when and where questions.

Where: Fortine, Montana (AmigoRandy Cabin) / Whitefish Mountain Resort
Who: AmigoTim, AmigoGreg, AmigoOJ, AmigoJohn, AmigoRandy
With regret, the following Amigos are unable to participate: AmigoChris, AmigoScoop, AmigoRick
While the reduced headcount is disappointing, the Amigos are committed to excessive, Skiing, Food & Beer consumption, and technology.
There has been some talk of a HD webcam, and possibly a live streaming video feed from Amigo headquarters. In addition, this year will see the first helmet camera in play.
Marketing plans are now in development and appropriate swag is being considered.
